Keyword trend analysis is the time dimension of your SEO strategy. A keyword you are focusing on today may actually have been one you needed to target three months ago; or the reverse — that keyword may peak next winter. The SEOYEN Keyword Trends tool instantly shows each keyword’s 12-month search volume chart, seasonal patterns, and annual change. This allows you to plan your content based on data, with foresight, and one step ahead of the competition.
What Are Keyword Trends?
A keyword’s search volume is not the same every month. While the keyword “velvet dress” peaks in October–November, it is barely searched in July. “Tax return” surges every March, and “Christmas gift” breaks records in December. Publishing content without understanding these seasonal movements is like trying to harvest a branch that blooms briefly instead of picking fully ripened fruit.
The SEOYEN Keyword Trends tool turns the last 12 months of monthly search volume data for every keyword you target into a visual line chart. At a glance, you can tell whether the trend is rising, declining, or stable. With year-over-year (YoY) comparison, you can measure growth or decline versus the same period last year and base your keyword choices on long-term data. This is not just a chart — it is the data infrastructure behind your content calendar.
Core Features
- 12-Month Trend Chart: View the monthly search volume movement of every keyword you choose over the last 12 months in an interactive line chart. Peaks, downturns, and stable periods are all visible on a single screen.
- Seasonality Detection: The system automatically detects recurring seasonal patterns and generates seasonal insights such as “This keyword usually peaks between November and January.” You can set reminders to publish your content at least 4–6 weeks before the peak.
- Year-over-Year Comparison (YoY): View this year side by side with the same period last year. Did the keyword “AI tools” grow 340% year over year? That insight determines how much you should invest in that category.
- Trend Direction Indicator: Automatic labeling for every keyword: Rising (consistent growth over the last 3 months), Declining (consistent decline over the last 3 months), Stable (moving within a ±10% range), or Seasonal (clear recurring pattern). Filter your keyword list by these labels.
- Bulk Keyword Comparison: Compare multiple keywords on the same chart. Is “e-commerce,” “online shopping,” or “internet shopping” growing faster? View them overlaid with different colored lines and shape your strategy.
- Trend Alerts: Get email or panel notifications when the trend direction of tracked keywords changes, such as when a stable keyword suddenly starts rising. Capture the opportunity before your competitor does.
- Google Trends Integration: In addition to search volume numbers, it also displays Google Trends’ relative interest scores side by side. Even if absolute volume is low, it adds a complementary layer for seeing geographic and seasonal interest intensity.
Step-by-Step Usage
- Enter a Keyword or Keyword List: Type a single keyword or multiple comma-separated keywords into the search box. Automatic import from your Rank Tracker list is also possible.
- Select Location and Language: Apply a country/language filter for nationwide Turkey, a specific city, or global analysis. Trends for “Istanbul cafe” and “Ankara cafe” may behave differently.
- Set the Time Range: The default is 12 months; you can switch to a 3, 6, or 24-month view. If you are planning long-term content, the 24-month view helps you capture more seasonal cycles.
- Review the Trend Chart: Identify rising, declining, and seasonal points. When you hover over the chart, you can see the exact volume for that month.
- Enable YoY Comparison: Activate the second line showing the same months from the previous year and calculate the growth rate. Positive YoY growth indicates that the market for that keyword is expanding.
- Integrate It Into Your Content Calendar: Build a calendar to publish content 6–8 weeks before the peak period. You can transfer it directly to the SEOYEN content planning module.
Who Should Use It?
- E-commerce Owners: Those who plan inventory and campaigns by identifying peak periods for product categories in advance and want to avoid wasting ad budget during the wrong season.
- Content Marketers and Bloggers: Editors and content teams who want to capture the organic peak by publishing seasonal topics at the right time.
- SEO Specialists and Agencies: Professionals who prove which keywords in client projects represent growing markets and which represent declining ones, and defend strategy with data.
- Startups and Product Teams: Those who want to measure market demand for a new category or product name over time and understand whether the niche is growing.
- Advertising Managers: Those who optimize the start and end dates of Google Ads campaigns based on search volume peaks and want to avoid unnecessary budget spend outside the season.

Frequently Asked Questions
How often is trend data updated?
Monthly search volume data is updated every 30 days. Our system automatically checks data freshness, and data older than 30 days is replaced with refreshed data. The latest point on the chart represents the most recently completed full month.
How many keywords can I compare at the same time?
You can compare up to 5 keywords simultaneously on the same chart. For larger lists, you can use the export feature to build your own comparison in Excel or Google Sheets.
How is it different from Google Trends?
Google Trends only provides relative interest scores (0–100); you cannot access absolute search volume figures. SEOYEN Keyword Trends offers both real monthly search volume numbers and relative trend movement together. In addition, the data is integrated directly with your SEO tools — connected to the Rank Tracker, Keyword Research, and Content Planning modules.
When should content be published for a seasonal keyword?
General rule: 6–8 weeks before the peak period. For example, if the keyword “Christmas gifts” peaks in December, publishing the content in late October to early November gives Google enough time to crawl, index, and rank your content. For new sites, extending this window to 10–12 weeks is safer.
If YoY growth is negative, should I give up on that keyword?
Negative YoY growth alone is not a reason to abandon a keyword. If volume is still high and competitors are few, that keyword may still be valuable. On the other hand, for a consistently declining keyword, it is often more efficient to maintain your presence by keeping existing content updated rather than making a heavy content investment. Always evaluate the decision through the lens of volume + competition + conversion rate.
