Page Authority

A metric developed by Moz that estimates, on a scale of 1 to 100, the ranking potential of a single URL rather than the domain as a whole.

Page Authority (PA) is a metric developed by Moz that estimates, on a scale of 1 to 100, the likelihood that a single page (URL) will rank in search results. It is the page-level equivalent of Domain Authority.

The main factors that affect PA are:

  • The number and quality of internal links pointing to the page
  • The authority of external backlinks pointing to the page
  • The overall strength of the domain (DA)
  • The age of the page and its ranking history

PA varies from page to page, even within the same site. While the homepage usually has the highest PA, a newly published blog post may have a very low PA.

Tip: Link to your important commercial pages from internal pages with high PA; this is the fastest way to pass authority to the target page.
